WARRIORS DROP GAME IN SALMON ARM

Warriors Drop Game in Salmon Arm

The West Kelowna Warriors came up just short in a tightly contested battle, falling 2–0 to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on home ice at Rogers Rink.

The opening two periods were defined by a goaltending duel between Warriors netminder Angelo Zol and Silverbacks counterpart Mikkel Christensen. Zol was especially sharp, turning aside multiple high-quality chances and flashing the glove on several highlight-reel saves to preserve the scoreless tie and extend his shutout streak deep into the game. At the other end, Christensen matched him save for save as both teams traded chances but couldn’t find a breakthrough.

Salmon Arm finally broke through just over ten minutes into the third period, capitalizing on a rush chance to slip a puck past Zol. The lone goal sparked the traditional teddy bear toss in Rogers Rink and proved to be the difference on the night.

West Kelowna pushed hard in the final minutes, generating pressure and chances in search of the equalizer, but Christensen stood tall to keep the Warriors off the scoresheet. Any late momentum was halted when West Kelowna was assessed a too-many-men penalty while attempting to pull the goalie, effectively ending the final surge.

Special teams were unable to tilt the game in either direction, as the Warriors finished 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Silverbacks also went 0-for-4 with the man advantage.

The Warriors now have two games remaining before the Christmas break. They hit the road Friday night to face the Vernon Vipers before returning home Saturday for a rematch against the Silverbacks, looking for a little revenge.
