Warriors Double Up Silverbacks 4-1 in Strong Road Victory
The West Kelowna Warriors continued their winning ways Friday night with a convincing 4-1 victory over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
The Silverbacks would open the scoring early, as Keifer Miller found the back of the net to give Salmon Arm the 1-0 lead. The Warriors responded later in the first when Ruslan Jamaldinov stripped a Silverbacks defender, setting up Ian Alonso who buried the equalizer. Newcomer Natan Ethier also picked up an assist on the play — his first assist as a Warrior.
Early in the second period, West Kelowna took control. Noah Garthe gave the Warriors their first lead of the night, off a rebound from Max Kelly to make it 2-1. Moments later, Jace Rask extended the lead to 3-1 with a perfect tip in front of the net.
The Warriors weren’t done yet. In the final minute of the middle frame, Olivier Chan sent a beautiful cross-ice pass to Dylan Krayer, who snapped home his eighth goal of the season to give West Kelowna a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the third.
The final frame was all about defense, as the Warriors shut down any Silverbacks push. Both teams went scoreless on the power play, but West Kelowna’s structure and goaltending stood tall.
Goaltender Bor Glavic was solid all night, stopping 24 of 25 shots to earn third star honors. Ian Alonso picked up second star with his key first-period goal, and Natan Ethier continues his hot start, earning first star with two assists.
With the win, the Warriors move to 12-1-2 and will look to complete the weekend sweep back home at Royal LePage Place on Saturday night when they host the Spruce Grove Saints. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
