West Kelowna, BC – The Warriors extended their win streak to four on Friday night with a 2-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
With well over 1100 people on hand at RLP for the 4th annual “Peachland Warriors Night”, the home team came out strong, and played a complete 60 minutes against a team above them in the standings.
Bor Glavič was great again between the pipes, stopping 28 of 29 Silverback shots. With the victory, Glavič now improves to 5-0-0 since joining the Warriors after the BCHL’s Christmas Break, boasting a ridiculous 1.72GAA and .940 Sv% in that time.
Offensively, the Warriors got both of their goals from their leading goal scorer, Sam LeDrew. He notched his 15th of the year in the first period, tipping in a Nathan Drapeau point shot from the hashmarks to open the scoring. Salmon Arm would answer back two minutes later, as Ryan Philbrick centred the puck on an odd man rush for Grant Dillard, who scored his first career BCHL goal to tie the game up after 20.
After a scoreless second period, it was Sam LeDrew’s time to, once again, give the Warriors the lead. After Philip Monnich Hagen’s initial chance was knocked off his stick, he was able to recover, and dish a pass into the left circle for LeDrew, who walked, dragged, and sniped his second of the night and 16th of the season for the eventual game winner.
West Kelowna will wrap up their homestand on Saturday night, when they welcome the Sherwood Park Crusaders to RLP. Puckdrop is scheduled for 7:00, with tickets available at WestKelownaWarriors.CA
