Vernon, B.C.- Zach Brooks and the Warriors head home happy after a 2-1 shootout victory Monday night.

It was a scoreless first period with both goaltenders Johnny Derrick and James Porter Jr dialed in early.

The second period was no different than the first. Warriors were able to get some better quality scoring chances but couldn’t beat Vipers goaltender James Porter Jr. Vipers would have one power play opportunity but Warriors goaltender Johnny Derrick was able to make a trio of saves to keep it scoreless after two.

Things got heated in the third period. First Reagan Millburn was able to tip a puck past Johnny Derrick to give the Vipers a 1-0 lead. Then as the midway point of the period approached, Porter Dawson would fire a puck towards the Viper net where James Porter would give up a juicy rebound for Carter Wilkie who scored his team leading 7th to tie it up and send it to overtime. Overtime would solve nothing and the shootout would go to the 6th round where Zach Brooks would be the lone scorer to win it for the Warriors.

The Warriors will be  getting right back at it Wednesday when they face the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Puck Drop is 7:30pm from Kal-Tire Place. Tune into the action on BCHLTV (formally HockeyTV) or on the free internet radio stream on Mixlr.
