VICTORIA B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors silence Alex Newhook and the Victoria Grizzlies by a score of 6-1 Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors started the game with a bit of a new look, Lucas Cullen returned from a three game suspension, and Sam Anderson found himself starting on the Warriors top line with the Warriors coaching staff trying to get a couple slumping players going. One slumping forward has been Chase Dubois who hasn’t scored since the weekend in Wenatchee. Dubois was very happy to have Lucas Cullen back on his wing, who is one of the energy forwards for this Warriors club. “He sees the ice really well, and we really click together, it’s really nice to have him back”. Dubois was able to receive a Cavin Tilsley pass and made no mistake beating Grizzlies goaltender Kyle Dumba to make it 1-0 early. The Warriors would continue to press throughout the period out shooting the Grizzlies 16-15 after the first.

The Warriors would continue to pour it on in the second period especially in the second half with the Captain Cavin Tilsley getting on the board to make it 2-0. Under a minute later the new look top line of Mike Hardman, Max Bulawka and Sam Anderson went to work and Bulawka was able to put one past Grizzlies goaltender Kyle Dumba to make it 3-0. Lucas Cullen and Chase Dubois continued to keep the puck moving in the Grizzlies zone late in the second period giving Dubois his second of the hockey game and 12th of the season and it was 4-0 after the second period.

The third period was more of them same for the Grizzlies, unable to create any type of offense and allowing odd man rushes and scoring chances for the Warriors. Mike Hardman ended his two game scoring slump connecting with Max Bulawka and the duo connected again making it 5-0 with 11 minutes to go. The Warriors would put a dagger into the hockey game with Lucas Cullen scoring off a two on one with Mason Richey to make it 6-0 with over five minutes to go. Warriors goaltender Brock Baier was sharp all game stopping 39 shots, but was unable to get the shutout mainly because of a streaking Carter Berger got one past him late in the game to get the Victoria Grizzlies on the board. Final score 6-1 Warriors. Warriors Assistant Coach Matt Miller was very pleased with his team’s effort, “Sunday was our best game of the three days, we probably only played well for only half of the games on Friday and Saturday, but tonight was a full 60 minute effort”.

Shots on goal: 40-37 in favor of the Victoria Grizzlies.
