PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – Later period mishaps for the Warriors lead to a 5-2 Spruce Kings victory Saturday night.

The Warriors stayed with the Spruce Kings for the majority of the period. Each team got a couple great scoring chances off the bat. The Spruce Kings hit the post after a tight 3 on 1 and then the Warriors would get a penalty shot attempt for Max Bulawka. It appeared Bulawka was able to beat Spruce Kings goaltender Jett Alexander but Bulawka would lose the puck after the forehand-backhand move. Late in the period Brandon Dent would take a high sticking penalty putting the Spruce Kings on the power play allowing Nick Bochen to score his first of the season to make it 1-0. It would be the 8th straight game the Warriors would surrender the first goal of the hockey game.

Warriors would get on the board in the second frame after Levi Stauber was able to steal the puck and skate past Nick Bochen creating a 3 on 1 opportunity. After a failed pass by Stauber, Brandon Dent was able to take the deflection backhanding the puck passed Spruce Kings goaltender Jett Alexander to tie it up at two. The Spruce Kings would yet again score late, this time adding a pair. First, after a scramble draw in the Warriors zone, Thomas Richter was able to find an open Ryan McAllister to make it 2-1 with only 1:22 remaining. The Spruce Kings were not done there, after a failed clearing by the Warriors, Nick Bochen would fire a shot from the point which would be tipped by Nick Poisson extending the Spruce Kings lead to 3-1 heading into the dressing room.

Yet again the Warriors would play from behind in the third period. It’s been the same song throughout the seven game losing streak. The Warriors would make things interesting with Max Bulawka scoring his seventh of the season to make it 3-2. Warriors would continue to pressure in the Spruce Kings zone but a quick transition the other way lead to a scrambling Johnny Derrick allowing the Spruce Kings to get the go ahead goal to make it 4-2. The Spruce Kings would add an empty netter late to end it 5-2.

Final shots on goal: 31-22 in favor of the Spruce Kings.
