CHILLIWACK, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors got caught flat footed on Saturday as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs defeated the Warriors 5-2.

The Warriors were caught sleeping to start the game with the Bulldogs scoring a pair of goals in the first period and only registering 3 shots on the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs took full advantage of Warriors turnovers and peppered Johnny Derrick with 17 total shots in period one. Goals from Mirko Buttazzoni and Zeke Nicholson for the Bulldogs.

Things didn’t get any better for the Warriors in the second period. The Bulldogs added three more goals, two of them on the powerplay and put up an additional 18 shots on Johnny Derrick. The score after two periods was 5-0 Bulldogs, that would be the end of the night for Johnny Derrick with rookie Justin Katz taking over to start period three.

Warriors would make it interesting in the third scoring a pair with Dafoe scoring his 2nd of the year and Trudeau scoring on the Warriors one and only powerplay attempt but it wouldn’t be enough with the Warriors falling by a score of 5-2. Final shots 50-23 Bulldogs.

The Warriors return home to face the Powell River Kings next Friday October 29th. Puck drop 7:00pm PST from Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna. Catch broadcasts on BCHL TV (formally HockeyTV) or tune into the Warriors MixIr radio station.
