RECAP: WARRIORS GET THE JOB DONE IN TRAIL

TRAIL, B.C. – For the first time since October of 2018 the Warriors pick up a victory inside Cominco arena after defeating the Trail Smoke Eaters by a score of 5-4 Wednesday evening.

The Warriors got off to a hot start with Felix Trudeau finding an open Elan Bar Lev Wise off the rush to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead 45 seconds into the game. The Smoke Eaters would storm back only 4 minutes later. A quick pass from Captain Coalson Wolford would find Zach Michaelis stick to tie it up at 1. Midway through the period the Warriors would take advantage of a neutral zone turnover with John Evans wiring a wrist shot past Smoke Eaters goaltender Evan Fradette giving the Warriors a 2-1 lead. Only two minutes later the Smoke Eaters would go on another powerplay and even things up again with Teddy Lagerback scoring his second of the season heading into the dressing room.

The Warriors would continue to find themselves in penalty trouble in the second frame. During a two man advantage for the Smoke Eaters, Warriors blue liner Nick Ardanaz would hit a Smoke Eaters player from behind which would end up getting Ardanaz ejected from the hockey game. Quinn Disher would later score while on a two man advantage to give the Smoke Eaters a 4-3 lead. The Smoke Eaters would still have another powerplay after the fourth goal, but Warriors forward John Evans had other plans. Evans would generate a turnover and fire a wrist shot through traffic scoring his 2nd of the game to tie the game at 3. Minutes later the Warriors would generate another turnover when Smoke Eaters Evan Bushey would play the puck up the middle right to the stick of Alexi Van-Houtte Cachero who one timed a shot past Evan Fradette to give the Warriors a 4-3 lead heading into the third.

The Warriors got off to a great start to the third. Immediately Felix Trudeau would create a two on one and instead of pass he would fire a wrist shot top corner past Fradette to extend the lead to 5-3 Warriors. The Smoke Eaters would add one more goal but were not able to force overtime as the Warriors escaped with a 5-4 victory.

The Warriors are back in action Friday, October 15th against the Cranbrook Bucks. Puck drop at 7:00pm MT, 6:00pm PST from Western Financial Place in Cranbrook. The game will also be broadcast live on HockeyTV and  the BCHLWarriors Mixlr feed.
