Vernon, B.C. – The Vipers take advantage of their chances Saturday night and pick up a 4-1 victory over the Warriors.

The Vipers started Saturday night’s game the exact same way Friday night’s game went. Two goals off the bat. One on the powerplay from Reagan Millburn and another from Zack Tonelli off a Warriors turnover in their own zone. The Warriors would get one of their own on the man advantage courtesy of Tyson Jugnauth making it 2-1 Vipers after one period of play.

The Vipers would score their third goal off one of the strangest bounces you’ll ever see. Luke Buss went to wrap the puck around the glass and it would hit a stanchion and go right to the crease allowing Buss to deke way around Warriors goaltender Johnny Derrick giving the Vipers a 3-1 lead. The Warriors found themselves in the penalty box again in the second frame allowing the Vipers to score on one of their powerplay attempts after Reagan Millburn was able to place the puck off a Warriors stick and in.

With the Vipers beginning period three up 4-1, the Warriors needed some puck luck but didn’t receive any gifts from the hockey gods. Calls continued to not go the Warriors way throughout the period allowing the Vipers to skate off with the victory Saturday night.

The BCHL’s regular season begins next week. The Warriors are back in action Saturday, October 9th against the Prince George Spruce Kings. Puck drop at 7:00pm from Royal LePage Place in West Kelowna. The Warriors will honour the firefighters that kept their community safe last August. Tickets are available online at WestKelownaWarriors.ca. The game will also be broadcast live on HockeyTV and  the BCHLWarriors Mixlr feed.
