Vernon, B.C.-  Third string goaltender Austin Madge’s 33 save shutout led the way Sunday night as the Warriors snapped their 5 game losing streak over the Silverbacks after a 3-0 victory.

The first frame started with a Warriors goal midway through the period. Tyson Jugnauth would fan on a slap shot placing the puck right on the stick of Ben Woodhouse who fired a slap shot of his own making no mistake beating Silverbacks goaltender Owen Say making it 1-0 Warriors after one.

The Warriors got off to a great start in the second with an unlikely 5 man unit generating some offense. It was a line that consisted of 4 defensemen and only one forward. Bryden Sinclair would steal the puck away from a Silverbacks forward in his own zone and feed big Skyler Cameron who fired a slap shot past Owen Say extended the Warriors lead. The Warriors would receive some stellar goaltending from third string goaltender Austin Madge who was making his BCHL debut Sunday evening.

The Warriors needed to play solid defensively heading into period three. Austin Madge stood tall stopping all 33 shots he faced and the Warriors added an empty net goal from Carter Wilke giving the Warriors their first win over the Silverbacks since the opening night of the Pod season. The Warriors would snap their five game losing streak over the Silverbacks.

West Kelowna returns to action Monday, April 26th, with a 7:30pm match up with the Vernon Vipers. Fans can catch the action on BCHLTV (formally HockeyTV) or on the free internet radio stream on Mixlr.
