WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The Surrey Eagles snap the Warriors winning streak after a convincing 7-3 victory Friday night.

The game didn’t start well for the Warriors where they allowed 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Hemmed in their own zone, the Warriors opened up numerous spots for the Surrey Eagles putting goaltender Johnny Derrick in a tough spot. First goal was scored by Brandon Santa Juana on a two man advantage, followed by goals from Kenny Riddett and Owen Nolan. The Warriors would get another goal from Drew Vieten however. It was John Evans with great forechecking inside the attacking zone allowing Vieten to take possession roofing it past Eagles goalie Reece Klassen to put the Warriors on the board. Time of possession was dominated by the Eagles in the first period but shots on goal were only 9-8 Eagles.

The Eagles would come out strong yet again in the second period and the dangerous top line of Gabe Schovanek, Hudson Schandor and Christophe Tellier would go to work. In the first minute of the second the Warriors would be pinned inside their zone by the Eagles trio where Tellier would find a wide open Schovanek to make it 4-1 Eagles. Only 4 minutes later the Eagles would add another one with Tellier finding an open Hudson Schandor extending the Eagles lead to 5-1. The Warriors would add one late on the power play where Nick Ardanaz would fire a shot through traffic past Reece Klassen cutting the lead to 5-2 heading into the dressing room.

The Warriors needed a strong third period but it was the Eagles who got off to the hot start. Christophe Tellier put an explanation point on his night with a slap shot from the right circle which would go off the glove of Derrick and in making it 6-2. That would be the end of the night for Johnny Derrick with Riley Morgan coming in for relief. The Warriors would cut the lead to three quickly with a goal from Tyler Cristall but the Eagles would add an insurance tally late from Wyatt Schaldt making it a 7-2 final.
