WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors(5-22-4-2) host the Wenatchee Wild(17-15-3-1) in their annual Teddy Bear Toss game Saturday night.

The Warriors are currently on a five game losing streak after suffering a 4-3 loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters friday night. The game seemed to get out of hand early with the Smoke Eaters scoring the first four goals in under 11 minutes but after a John Evans goal late in the first period, the Warriors got momentum. A pair of goals scored by the all rookie line Brandon West assembled made it a new game heading into the third, but a couple penalties late in the game put the Warriors in a tough position in regards to finding the equalizer, allowing the Smoke Eaters to escape with the one goal victory.

Tonight the Warriors host the Wenatchee Wild, a club they haven’t had much luck with recently. The past two games versus the Wild, the Warriors have only been able to score one goal, and have allowed 11 goals during the span. It’s clear goaltending needed to be better in those games and Warriors goaltender Brock Baier played his best game of the season for the Warriors last night in Trail stopping 35 of 37 shots after replacing Johnny Derrick. The Warriors have also figured things out offensively over the past couple weeks, scoring on special teams and getting production from their depth players. If goaltending can keep the Warriors in this game, and the hot offense can produce from the rookie trio of Cristall-Pigeon-Evans, the Warriors will find a play to snap their 5 game losing streak.

This evening’s game will be broadcast on both HockeyTV and the Warriors Mixlr Network. Puck drop at 7:00pm from Cominco Arena in Trail. For tickets to any upcoming home game visit tickets.westkelownawarriors.ca for details and packages.
