WEST KELOWNA B.C. – Two of the top three clubs in the BCHL’s Interior Division face off this afternoon in Merritt.

WARRIORS VS CENTENNIALS REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE:

Tuesday February 19th VS Merritt     7:00pm

Last night, the West Kelowna Warriors faced another multi goal deficit midway through the game and were once again able to comeback. Forward Mike Hardman led the charge offensively scoring two goals and three assists allowing the Warriors to run away with the game 6-2. It was the Warriors Eight straight victory of the season in front of over 1200 fans at Royal LePage Place. Numerous fans have asked, “When will the streak end? Which team is going to end the streak?” If the Warriors are to make it 9 in a row they have to do it in one of the toughest buildings in the BCHL, the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena. Last time the Warriors traveled to Merritt to battle the Centennials, the Cents put eight goals past Warriors goaltender Brock Baier. Most of the goals were mainly bounces off the boards or the Warriors not realizing how little time they have with the puck on the small ice surface forcing them to cause turnovers.

This afternoon the Warriors need to be aware of the obscure ice surface of the NVMA, and need to make sure that the Centennials don’t force them to make rash decisions with the puck. This Warriors club has come a long way since October 12th, and it would be wise for the Merritt Centennials to prepare to a completely different team. With the standings the way they are, not only does each team need to win this game, they need to do it in regulation. Currently The West Kelowna Warriors, Merritt Centennials, and Penticton Vees are in a three way tie for first in the division, with the Warriors and Vees playing a home at home this upcoming Tuesday and Wednesday.

Powerplay:                                               Penalty Kill:

Cents – 18.3% (10th)                          Cents – 77.2% (15th)

Warriors – 21.2% (4th)                      Warriors – 81.3% (9th)

Catch today’s  game on Mixlr and Hockey TV. Warriors Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Chase Johnston is back on the mic with a pregame show 10 minutes before puck drop. Warriors scorekeeper Alex Hoce will be joining Chase in the broadcast booth providing color this afternoon.
