The West Kelowna Warriors are coming off two big victories. One on the road in Vernon 2-1, and then a 4-2 win at home over the Coquitlam Express last Tuesday. It was a big game for the Warriors having to play without their go to defensive defenseman Kyle Koopman. Koopman, 20, wasn’t brought in for his point production but for his great play in his own zone. “The loss of Kyle Koopman will not only be felt on the ice but in the dressing room as well,” stated Warriors Head Coach and General Manager Geoff Grimwood, “It hurts our team right now but this league is about progressing these men on to the next level. We believe Kyle is more than ready for college hockey right now and we want to wish him the best of luck in Providence.”

Tonight the Warriors faceoff with the Merritt Centennials, a club that continues to dominate the Warriors. Although the meeting last week was much closer than before, the Warriors fell apart in the third period, not being able to register a single shot on goal for over 15 minutes of play. Warriors Assistant Coach Matt Miller knows the Warriors have the tools to defeat the Centennials, they just need to compete for the entire game, “We need to get a full 60 minute effort in order to beat a team like Merritt”.

Catch tonight’s  game on Mixlr and Hockey TV. Warriors Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations Chase Johnston is back on the mic with a pregame show 10 minutes before puck drop. Just a reminder that tickets are still available for tonight’s home game versus the Cents. Visit the Warriors website and select single game tickets for more details.
