OCTOBER 19th, 2018

WEST KELOWNA B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors welcome their South Okanagan rivals the Penticton Vees tonight.

WARRIORS VS VEES REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE:

Friday October 19th @ West Kelowna   7pm

Saturday October 27th @ Penticton     6pm

Tuesday November 13th @ West Kelowna   7pm

Wednesday November 14th @ Penticton    7pm

Friday December 21st @ Penticton     7pm

Saturday December 22nd @ West Kelowna   7pm

The Warriors once again were unable to pick up the two points they need in what is already a very tight interior division after suffering a 5-1 loss Tuesday night to the Chilliwack Chiefs.

The Warriors come into tonight’s game with a couple new faces suiting up. On the back end is Penticton native Kelvin Hair, who played his first game alongside Cody Paivarinta last Tuesday. Hair, 18, played 30 games last season with the Kelowna Rockets(WHL) club. One player that will more than likely make his Warriors debut is former Brooks Bandit Eric Olson. The Calgary native spent the past season with Philadelphia Rebels(NAHL) scoring 20 points in 56 games played. The Warriors need to capitalize on their chances early and pick up  an early lead. Key to tonight’s victory is to make sure the Warriors are not playing catch up throughout the hockey game.

The Penticton Vees have loaded up once again with talent up front including former Trail Smoke Eater Andre Ghantous, former Nanaimo Clipper David Silye, and former Surrey Eagle Eric Linell. These 3 forwards have not only provided depth for the Vees, but they’ve been the hottest trio of forwards for the Vees this month. Head Coach and General Manager Fred Harbinson has been utilizing these veterans throughout the season and hasn’t had to find any replacement for his star forward Anthony Rizzo who’s out with an injury. The other impressive newcomer for the Vees has been between the pipes. Future Michigan Wolverine and Carolina Hurricanes draft pick Jack LaFontaine. LaFonatine, 20, currently owns the second best goals against avergae in the BCHL at 1.88. Key for a Penticton Vees victory this season is to make sure they stay disciplined and get on the board early.
