WEST KELOWNA B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors hope to get back into the win column against the Victoria Grizzlies.
SEASON SCHEDULE VS THE VICTORIA GRIZZLIES:
Sunday October 7th VS West Kelowna
Sunday December 2nd @ Victoria
This afternoon’s Thanksgiving match-up will be one of the toughest for the season for both clubs. For the West Kelowna Warriors they face a club with NHL talent and one of the best 17 year old forwards the BCHL has seen since Tyson Jost. The Grizzlies are running off fumes playing three games in three nights.
The West Kelowna Warriors are coming off a grueling triple header with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks losing the third game last Friday by a score of 5-2. The Warriors came out of the gate quite slow and didn’t show much offense until the third period. Connor Hopkins was able to stand on his head for the entire game but it still wasn’t enough. Key to the game this evening for the Warriors is that they need to come out of the gate hot and get on the board early.
The Victoria Grizzlies are coming off a ton of travel and a ton of hockey played. Starting with a thrilling 4-3 victory against the Prince George Spruce Kings Friday night and then a come from behind victory last night in Salmon Arm lead by top prospect Alex Newhook scoring the OT winner. The Warriors need to make sure they have their eyes on Newhook throughout this afternoon’s game and also be aware that no lead is safe against this Grizzlies squad. A question for the Grizzlies is how much gas is left in the tank? They are working through one of the toughest road trips in the BCHL playing almost 125 minutes of ice time already. The Warriors need to take advantage of the lack of rest the Grizzlies have had this weekend.
