West Kelowna, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors head back to Vernon for games 9 and 10 of the Pod Season starting Sunday evening.

The Warriors are coming off a 3-2 victory last Friday over the Vernon Vipers. It was a game that started with a trio of goals from the Warriors in the first period led by forward Damon Jugnauth who opened the scoring with his first BCHL goal. The rest of the game was all Vipers. In the second frame, Warriors forward Ben Woodhouse was ejected out of the game for a high hit on Cameron MacDonald. This led to a pair of power play goals from the Vipers forcing Warriors goaltender Johnny Derrick to hold the fort with an already depleted forward group up front for the Warriors. Luckily for the Warriors, goaltender Johnny Derrick stopped 42 of 44 shots on goal propelling the Warriors to a 3-2 victory.

Sunday April 18th VS Salmon Arm Silverbacks: 6:00pm

Last time the Warriors faced the Silverbacks it was another tough loss led by poor puck security. Silverbacks scored 4 out of their 6 goals off Warriors turnovers. This is a Silverbacks team that can easily score when given the chance, so the Warriors need to be cautious of their neutral zone this time around. The Silverbacks have won 3 in a row over the Warriors.

Monday April 19th VS Vernon Vipers: 7:30pm

The Warriors have grounded the Vipers as of late winning their past 3 straight over the Vipers. The Vipers have run into hot goaltending for the Warriors whether it’s Johnny Derrick or Zach Bennett on one end of things. The Warriors coaching staff also admits they have played their best hockey against the Vipers with not nearly as many mistakes and turnovers going the other way. The Vipers once again are coming off a big win against the Silverbacks winning their 4th straight over the backs.

Puck drop for the Warriors on Sunday will be 6:00pm versus the Silverbacks and Monday at 7:30pm versus the Vipers. Catch broadcasts on BCHL TV (formally HockeyTV) or tune into the Warriors MixIr radio station.
