The Warriors head to the South Okanagan this today with a new level of confidence after defeating the Vees last night 3-1. The Warriors needed a confidence boost after last Sunday’s 8-3 defeat to the Merritt Centennials. Numerous players stepped their game up including goaltender Brock Baier. Baier, has started in every game versus the Vees this year, picking up victories in each start. Baier also got help from all six members of the Warriors defense. Andrew Viggars was able to save not one but to pucks from getting into the net on cross ice feeds from the Vees. Lucas Bahn was also able to extend his point streak picking up an assist on the third goal of the night. Warriors assistant coach Matt Miller had nothing but great things to say about the defense tonight, “Our D Core limited most of their chances, we played even strength for most of the night which was key playing a team like the Vees”.

The defense gets even stronger this evening with newly acquired Austin Chorney making his debut this evening. Chorney, 18, spent the past couple months with the Vernon Vipers where he’s recorded a goal and two assists in 17 games played this season. The Abbotsford native has also spent time with the Chilliwack Chiefs and Salmon Arm Silverbacks, and should fit in well with an already stacked back end with the Warriors. There is no word yet if Warriors Head Coach and General Manager will start Brock Baier or Connor Hopkins between the pipes this evening. Grimwood has shown he prefers to go with the hotter goaltender, but may change his mind with Baier playing four games in five nights.
