WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce the commitments of forwards Riley Sharun (’03) and Brennan Nelson (’03) for the 2020/21 season.

Sharun, 17, brings layers of offense and grittiness  to the Warriors for the 20/21 season as the 6’0”, 165-pound forward spent two seasons playing for the Okanagan Rockets of the BC Major Midget League (BCMML).  The West Kelowna native played in 37 games before the shutdown of the season, compiling a total of 57 games played, scoring 25 goals, 25 assists for 50 points while also accumulating 62 penalty minutes.

Sharun is also no stranger to the BC Hockey League, playing in one game with the Warriors as an affiliate player throughout the 2019/20 season and held his own with some crucial shot blocks leading to a Warriors win.

“Adding Riley to our program gives us a player who exudes the qualities of what it means to be a Warrior,” commented Warriors head coach Simon Ferguson, “Having had him spend some time with our team last season, we know he will be able to come in and feel comfortable right away.”

Nelson, 17, impressed the West Kelowna coaching staff with his stellar play late in the 2019/20 season. The Penticton, BC native played the last two seasons with the Okanagan Rockets program, tallying 27 goals along with 66 assists for 93 points in 80 games combined including 94 penalty minutes. The 5’10”, 165-pound forward stood out in his time as an AP with the Warriors assisting on 4 goals in only two games played.

“We are thrilled to bring Brennan in full time this season,” stated Ferguson, “He’s an excellent passer and has a high IQ for the game.”

More announcements are expected to come throughout training camp so Warriors fans can stay tuned to the website and all social media outlets for more information.
