NEWS: Teddy Bear Toss & Brendan Ritchie Day Scheduled For Big Weekend On Home Ice

WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors have a big weekend planned at Royal LePage Place against a pair of Interior Conference opponents with the annual Teddy Bear Toss taking place on Saturday night against the Trail Smoke Eaters and Brendan Ritchie Day happening on Sunday afternoon against the Vernon Vipers.

The Teddy Bear Toss game is a fan favourite and helps different areas of the community in providing stuffies to places that need them most. This season, the bears will be donated to Salvation Army Toy Mountain and the Stuffies for Seniors program. PetSmart will also be on hand and selling stuffed animals for charity in the lower lobby ahead of the game.

For the third consecutive season, Kelowna Ford Lincoln will sponsor the night and will be bringing trucks to collect the bears following the Warriors first goal of the game. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used stuffed animals wrapped in plastic to throw on the ice.

Brendan is the definition of a true Warrior, battling Pulmonary Hypertension throughout his life as this year marks the 11th year of his fight against the disease. Brendan has touched many of the lives of Warriors players, staff and fans through his resiliency and fight and continues to cheer on the Warriors proudly.

Hope4Brendan rubber wrist bands will be made available by donation at the game on Sunday afternoon with the proceeds going towards the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. A Skate with the Warriors is planned following the final buzzer. Fans are encouraged to bring their skates and helmets to the rink Sunday afternoon and join the team for a skate following the game.

Tickets for each game can be purchased on the Warriors website as well as in-person at the Warriors Office or Box Office on the day of the game one hour before puck drop. Saturday night’s game will face-off at 7:00 PM while Sunday afternoon’s game sees a start time of 2:30 PM.
