NEWS: JUGNAUTH COMMITS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN

WEST KELOWNA B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce blue liner Tyson Jugnauth’s commitment to University of Wisconsin for the 2022-23 season.

Jugnauth, 16, suited up for 5 games with the Warriors last season but spent majority of the 2019/20 campaign with the Okanagan Rockets (BCMML) where he tallied 5 goals and 23 assists. “We are excited for Tyson and his family to announce his commitment to the University of Wisconsin”, stated Warriors Head Coach Simon Ferguson. “Tyson is going to be a very important player for us for the next few seasons and his deserving of the opportunity “.

“I am super excited to commit to such a great school and hockey program”, stated Jugnauth. “It was an unreal feeling to have that phone call and finally commit.”

Jugnauth had his own reasons on why he chose the Wisconsin. “I really like the city of Madison and the Big 10 conference”, said Jugnauth.  “It also has a really good track record of putting players in the NHL”. 

Warriors alumni and West Kelowna native Justin Schultz played 3 seasons with the University of Wisconsin before moving on to play 8 seasons and counting in the NHL.

Tyson Jugnauth is entering his first full season with the Warriors and will have a minimum two season’s with the Warriors before attending the University of Wisconsin.
