NEW LOOK STAFF FOR THE WESTSIDE WARRIORS

Westside, BC ? Mark Howell, the Director of Hockey Operations for the Westside Warriors, is excited to announce his new staff for the 2008-09 season.  The announcement comes late, but former staff received opportunities late in the summer putting the Warriors in a situation where they had to scramble to find talented replacements.

Helping out on the bench this season, as Assistant Coaches, are James Eccles and Misko Antisin.  James comes to the Warriors after 9 years in the United States, after gaining experience in the coaching and scouting aspects of the game.  James has been hired on full time by the Warriors, and will be responsible for the teams? strength and conditioning, community events as well as being an assistant coach.  He has played and coached at the University level in the NCAA.

Misko begins his first full season with the Warriors after playing professionally in Europe.  He has also been coaching in the Kelowna minor hockey system and at local hockey academies around Kelowna and Westside.  Misko primary responsibilities for the team will be around developing the skill sets of all the players, improving their abilities with the puck and becoming more efficient in understanding the tactics of the game.

?Our players should feel very fortunate to have the coaching staff they do, as it provides a great opportunity for them to continue their improvement as they strive to get to the next level of their hockey careers.?  Stated Howell.

Also, helping out this season as Assistant Coaches will be Larry Robinson, as the teams Goaltending Coach, Todd Johnson as the teams skating coach and Cory Cross, as a development coach.

In addition the team had to hire a new Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager, after Carolyn Glover, accepted a position with the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Western Hockey League.  Joining the team as the new Trainer is Richard Girardin, from La Salle, Manitoba.  Richard just completed his degree in Athletic Therapy from the University of Manitoba.  He has worked previously with the Men?s University Volleyball team and did some work with a Bantam AAA hockey team in Winnipeg.

?We are excited to bring in Richard, as he in very enthused to begin his profession with the Warriors, and we are anxious to help him improve and advance onto the next level.  He is qualified both from an educational and practical standpoint.? Explained Howell

The Westside Warriors would like to thank assistant coach, Evan Marble for all his contributions to the Warriors over the last 2 seasons.  Evan has moved onto a full time position with the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy.  As well, thank you to assistant coach Ken Andrusiak, for his guidance last season.  Ken has accepted a full time coach/mentorship position with Kelowna Minor Hockey.
