WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors got two goals from Chase Dubois and another strong effort on home ice in a 5-2 victory over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at Royal LePage Place on Wednesday night.

The Warriors got a pair of power play goals in the first period, one each from Dubois and Chase Stevenson, and added singles from Jake Harrison and Michael Lombardi in the victory while Cole Demers stopped 35 of the 37 shots he faced.

The scoring got going in the 1st period as the Warriors opened their five-goal night at the 9:33 mark as Dubois fired home the first of his two goals on the night. The Warriors forward corralled the puck in the right face-off circle and wired a shot past the glove of Silverbacks netminder Kyle Dumba for a 1-0 Warriors lead on the power play.

Just 2:15 later, on another power play, the Warriors doubled their lead coming courtesy of Stevenson. Jared Marino passed from the right circle and had his pass go off of Stevenson in front for his 4th goal of the season and a 2-0 Warriors lead.

West Kelowna jumped out to a three-goal lead early on in the 2nd period as Jake Harrison tallied his 4th goal of the season. Peter Tomaras pushed a pass back to the point for Michael Ryan, who directed the puck to Harrison at the left side and got his shot through Dumba for a 3-0 lead and would be the only scoring of the middle frame.

Michael Lombardi added to the Warriors advantage in the 3rd period with a goal at the 5:15 mark on a rebound. Harrison shot the puck from the mid-point that was stopped by Dumba but Lombardi was right on the doorstep for the rebound for his 5th goal of the season and a 4-0 Warriors lead.

The Warriors rounded out their night of scoring at the 7:41 mark of the 3rd period as Dubois jammed a loose puck home on the blocker side of Dumba, who saw his night come to an end after that goal. Dubois’ 8th goal of the season and second of the game gave the Warriors a 5-0 lead.

Riley Hayles scored twice in the 3rd period to get the Silverbacks on the board with markers coming at the 10:39 mark of the final frame and another goal with just 5 seconds remaining of a face-off to make the final a 5-2 Warriors win.

The two late goals were the only blemish on a good night for Cole Demers in the Warriors crease, turning aside 35 of the 37 shots he faced in the game for his 7th win of the season while Kyle Dumba started for the Silverbacks, making 33 of the 38 shots he faced for his 4th loss of the season.
