WEST KELOWNA B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors grind out a 4-1 victory at home Monday night.

The game didn’t start well for the Warriors with the Silverbacks drawing first blood. A quick pass from Ethan Ullrick would spring Silverbacks Captain Daniel Panetta loose on a breakaway to make it 1-0 Salmon Arm. Less than 3 minutes later Warriors Captain Elan Bar Lev Wise would score his 4th of the season of a turnover to tie it up at one. Story of the game happened at the 13:59 mark of the first period with Silverbacks star forward Simon Tassy taking a spill in the corner of the Warriors end forcing him to leave the game with a lower body injury. Tassy would need to be helped off the ice.

The second period the Warriors would shuffle the lines a bit with Riley Sharun taking a pass from Tyler Cristall scoring his first career playoff goal to give the Warriors their first lead of the night. 5 minutes later Felix Trudeau would accept a pass from Christophe Farmer and would score off a wrist shot in the high slot to make it 3-1 Warriors. It should be added that the Warriors also has two disallowed goals in the 2nd period as well.

The Silverbacks would push hard in period 3 but Warriors goaltender Johnny Derrick stood tall stopping 29 of 30 shots faced. Forward John Evans would seal it with his 6th of the playoffs scored in the empty net with under 30 seconds remaining in regulation.

FINAL SHOTS: 40-30 Warriors.
