WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – The West Kelowna Warriors(5-21-4-2) travel to the West Kootenays for a tilt with the Smoke Eaters(20-12-2-1-1) Friday night.

Warriors vs. Smoke Eaters 2019/20 Regular Season Schedule:

Saturday, September 21st @ Royal LePage Place (6:00 PM)  LOSS 5-1

Friday, October 25th @ Royal LePage Place  (7:00 PM) LOSS 4-3 (SO)

Saturday, October 26th @ Cominco Arena (7:00 PM) LOSS 8-2

Friday, December 13th @ Cominco Arena (7:00 PM)

Friday, February 7th @ Cominco Arena (7:00 PM)

Monday, February 17th @ Royal LePage Place (2:30 PM)

The Warriors are currently on a 4 game losing skid after suffering a tough 3-2 loss to the Penticton Vees. It was a game where the Warriors kept with the high powered offense of the Vees, and managed to make it interesting scoring a late goal to cut the lead to one with 5 minutes left in the game. In the end it wasn’t enough, but the Warriors coaching staff was pleased with their clubs effort. Great news for the Warriors this week was the return of defenseman Wyatt Head. Head, 20, spent this semester with the Quinnipiac Bobcats and will return and dress this Friday night wearing his old number 7. Head is excited to make his Warriors return.

Tonight the Warriors faceoff against the Trail Smoke Eaters. A club that has dominated the Warriors winning all three games this year. However, this time will be different. The Smoke Eaters are without their top players in forwards Kent Johnson, Philipe Lapointe, Owen Ozar and defenseman Powell Connor who are away with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge. During this stretch, the Smoke Eaters have lost 4 of their past 5 but have figured things out after a solid 3-1 victory over the Wenatchee Wild. If anyone knows what it’s like to have star players out of the lineup it’s the Warriors. They’ve been doing it all season long with no Jake Harrison and Parm Dhaliwal. Now the Warriors need to focus on a team that’s dealing with a certain situation and they seem to have figured things out quickly.

This evening’s game will be broadcast on both HockeyTV and the Warriors Mixlr Network. Puck drop at 7:00pm from Cominco Arena in Trail. For tickets to any upcoming home game visit tickets.westkelownawarriors.ca for details and packages.
