Warriors Week Preview

Weekend Preview ? Week of Nov. 16th ? Nov. 22nd, 2008

Your Westside Warriors enter another tough weekend, playing 3 games in 3 days, with 2 of those being on the road.  The boys are anxious to make amends for this previous weekend, which saw the team only garner 1 of 4 points, with both games at home.

 

Friday, November 21st, the Warriors face the Langley Chiefs at Royal LePage Place for a 7pm battle. The Langley Chiefs are traveling up to Westside sitting in second place in the Mainland Division. The Langley Chiefs current record stands at 14-10-1-0 and has had a .500 average in the last 10 games with a 5-5 record, while your Warriors are at a 6-2-0-2 record in the last 10 contests. The Chiefs are coming off a 1-1 weekend with a 6-4 win against the Cowichan Valley Capitals, and also losing to the Victoria Grizzlies 1-2.  Players to watch for the Langley Chiefs will be #27 Derek Grant, who is NCAA committed to Michigan State Spartans and a 2007 NHL Draftee, with 35 points.  As well, #11 Milos Gordic, who is committed to the Michigan Tech Huskies, with 32 points.

 

On Saturday morning your Warriors hit the road early in the AM to face off against the Trail Smoke Eaters with Saturday night and Sunday afternoon games.  Saturday, November 22nd, the Warriors face the Smoke Eaters for a 7:30pm start at Cominco Arena, which will then be followed up the next day, Sunday November 23rd,  for a 3pm start to finalize their weekend road trip. Trail is currently sitting in fourth place behind the Warriors with 31 points, only 2 points away from Westside, and a record of 14-6-2-1. The Smoke Eaters are coming off a good weekend, with two big wins, the first against the Vernon Vipers, 3-2, followed up with a 2-1 OT win over the Penticton Vees on Saturday night. Trail is lead by 2 Kelowna born and raised boys, #26 Chad Gehon with 26 points, and #11 Ryan Bulach with 22 points.
