Warriors, Vees Open Pre Season In Penticton

Venue: South Okanagan Events Centre

The West Kelowna Warriors begin their pre season schedule on Wednesday with an Interior Division Final rematch (of sorts) against the Penticton Vees.

The last time the Warriors and Vees saw each other was Game #6 of the Interior Division Final in Royal LePage Place where West Kelowna came away with a dramatic 4-3 victory to win the series and eventually go on as RBC Cup champions. This game will have a bit of a different feel to it with both teams icing a younger lineup being the first game of the pre season.

The Warriors will be dressing four 16 year olds tonight to go along with just two 19 year olds and everything in between. The Warriors are slated to have eight returnees from last year’s RBC Cup winning team but none of those players are in the lineup tonight as this game has more a “prospect” feel for the visitors.

The Vees have a few of their regulars in the lineup for tonight’s game, including returnee Desi Burgart and goaltending tandem Nolan Hildebrand (scheduled to start tonight’s contest) and newcomer Mat Robson from the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Toronto Patriots.

West Kelowna is back in action on Friday night when the Warriors take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at Royal LePage Place for their first home game of the pre season. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm and the game can be seen live, as can all the Warriors home games in the pre season, on FASTHockey.
