Warriors Take 3-2 Series Lead

The West Kelowna Warriors found a comeback of their own in Game 5 on Friday night, scoring twice in the third period to pick up a 2-1 win over the Penticton Vees, taking a 3-2 series lead in the Interior Division Final.

After a scoreless first period, the Vees opened the scoring on a deft deflection from Nicholas Jones to open the game up 1-0.

The Warriors had been out-shot 23-14 after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Nick Rutigliano had a chance to jump up in the rush, and got his stick on Quin Foreman’s centering pass, and it slipped over the line to tie the game.

With less than five minutes to play, Rylan Yarekmo’s point shot found the back of the net for the Warriors first lead of the night.

A couple big shot blocks late helped finish off the Warriors victory, sending them back to Royal LePage Place with a 3-2 series lead.

Tickets are still available, and will be on sale at the Warriors office starting at 9 AM Saturday, until 4 PM. Fans are advised to get their tickets in advance to avoid box office lines. Doors open at 6 PM.
