Warriors Make Significant Trades

WARRIORS SHUFFLE THE ROSTER

Westside, BC ? Mark Howell, Director of Hockey Operations for the Westside Warriors, announced that the Warriors have made some significant changes to the roster.

First, the Warriors traded 18 year old forward, Bryce Kakoske, to the Surrey Eagles, in exchange for 18 year defenceman Michael Quinn.  ?Trading away Bryce was a difficult decision as he is still young, yet he has entering his 3rd season with our team.  We felt it was important to add some much needed depth to our back end, and Michael brings us even more mobility and experience.? Stated Howell

Secondly, the team brought in veteran goaltender, Kevin Jebson, who played last season for the Burnaby Express, and has been in contention the last 2 seasons for a position with the Moose Jaw Warriors, of the WHL.  Going to Alberni Valley, is 20 year defenceman Eric Fraser. ?After watching our goaltending the past 3 weeks, it was important for us to find an experienced starter.  However, the price was steep as we think highly of Eric Fraser and will miss his presence on the back end.  This trade helps both sides;  we get an experienced goaltender and Eric will receive more minutes in Alberni Valley, allowing him to showcase himself to schools.?  Mentioned Howell.

In conjunction with the 2 other trades, the Warriors secured the playing rights to 18 year old forward, Jordan Gidaro from the Burlington Cougars of the OPJHL. Jordan is a quick and skilled forward that will complement the top offensive lines.  ?Knowing that we were adding a legitimate top 6 forward, allowed us the flexibility to trade Kakoske.  Jordan is a proven point producer, putting up one and half points per game last season.?  Explained Coach Howell.

?Trading away good players and even better people is always hard, especially ones that have been in Westside from the beginning.  We wish both Bryce and Eric all the best in their future endeavors, and thank them for all they have done for our organization the last 2 seasons.?  Concluded Howell
