Warriors Back On Home Ice vs. Silverbacks

The West Kelowna Warriors are back home tonight for their first pre season game at Royal LePage Place when they take on the visiting Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

It’s been 131 days since the last time the Warriors were on the ice at RLP and that was Game #6 of the BCHL Finals and the Warriors were crowned as the BCHL’s best with their first Fred Page Cup in franchise history.

The Warriors are coming off of a 2-0 loss on the road on Wednesday night in Penticton to the Vees. Despite the lack of offense, the Warriors did have a good night in the blue paint as goaltenders Brad Otton and Matt Vernon combined to stop 36 of the 37 shots that were fired their way.

The ‘Backs come into tonight with one pre season game under their belt, also playing no Wednesday night as they were in Merritt to face the Centennials. A back and forth contest saw the game end in a 5-5 tie.

West Kelowna iced a younger lineup on Wednesday night, which will see a few changes for tonight’s game, including some veterans who will hit the ice for tonight’s contest. Captain Nick Rutigliano and Reed Gunville will dress tonight along with recruits Jon Russell, Matt Monk and goaltender Shane Farkas, who gets the start in between the pipes for the Warriors tonight.

A reminder for fans that tickets for tonight’s game, and each of the Warriors pre season tilt’s, will be just $5. No reason not to make it down to RLP to catch the defending National Champions play in their first pre season game.

For fans that can’t make it down to RLP tonight, the game can be seen through pay-per-view on FASTHockey.com or you can listen for free on the Warriors Internet Network starting at 6:55 pm with Trevor Miller and Sheldon Bank.

The Warriors will be right back in action Saturday night when they head to Salmon Arm to complete the home and home set at the Shaw Centre. Puck drop will be 7:00 pm.
