The West Kelowna Warriors scored at just the right time and came away with a 4-2 victory in a physical affair over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

After a scoreless opening period of play, West Kelowna kicked off what would be four goals in a 5:49 span as Braiden Epp banged in his 6th goal of the season on a 5-on-3 power play and at 9:48 of the 2nd period, the Warriors took a 1-0 lead.

The Silverbacks tied the game at the 12:49 mark of the 2nd as Jake Heerspink hammered in the tying goal past Warrior netminder Trevor Martin’s glove side to make it 1-1.

Carter Cochrane gave the Silverbacks their only lead of the game at the 14:13 mark of the middle frame on a 5-on-3 power play to push Salmon Arm ahead by a 2-1 score.

West Kelowna battled hard and tied the game at the 15:37 mark of the 2nd period courtesy of Connor Sodergren. After a Warrior penalty kill, Quin Foreman poked the puck free to centre and went in on a 2-on-1 with Sodergren, who just came out of the penalty box and took a feed from Foreman and buried his 8th of the season and tying the game at two.

The 2nd period came to an end with a bit of a scuffle as many players were involved in a melee leading to Parm Dhaliwal, Braiden Epp, Spencer Hora and Josh Blanchard all being kicked out what was a feisty affair between the Warriors and ‘Backs.

The Warriors broke through the deadlock at 15:27 of the 3rd period as Quin Foreman buried a rebound off a Matt Campese shot and his 10th goal of the season gave the Warriors a 3-2 lead in the game’s final five minutes.

Foreman added an empty netter with 15 seconds to go for his 11th goal of the season and gave the Warriors their third straight victory, a 4-2 win over the Silverbacks.

Trevor Martin was sensational in the Warriors net, making 39 saves on 41 shots in his 2nd victory of the season while Silverbacks netminder Trevin Kozlowski made 25 saves on 28 shots toward the Salmon Arm goal.

West Kelowna (8-9-0-1) will head back home for a pair of weekend games beginning on Saturday night when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters (9-8-0-1) at 7:00 pm from Royal LePage Place. Tickets can be purchased at the Warriors office or by calling Kim at (250) 769-7051.
