The West Kelowna Warriors would like to congratulate forward Jake LeBrun (’95) as he has committed to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (UBC) for the 2016/17 hockey season.

LeBrun, a Prince George native, was acquired by the Warriors on January 7th, along with Bryan Basilico from the Prince George Spruce Kings and went on to play 8 regular season games with West Kelowna, amassing 4 assists in that span.

The 20-year old would suit up for 24 BCHL playoff games, earning 4 goals and 10 points before picking up one assist in 5 Western Canada Cup games. LeBrun would find his scoring touch when the Warriors headed to Lloydminster for the RBC Cup, a tournament in which LeBrun scored 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points en route to the team’s first national championship.

“Jake was a great addition for us at the trade deadline,” commented Warriors head coach and general manager Rylan Ferster, “Adding another captain to our group was great. He scored some big timely goals for us and was also the ultimate team guy.”

The Warriors begin their national title defense on September 9th as they open up the 2016/17 BCHL regular season against the Trail Smoke Eaters at Royal LePage Place. West Kelowna kicks off their preseason schedule with a matchup against the Penticton Vees on August 24th at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton.
